Plymouth FC - U11 Archive 2

FALL 11 SEASON

Plymouth FC - Green commenced training back in the summer with seven new additions out of a squad of twelve. Although it was clear to all that we had a talented group of individuals, we had no idea how they would gel as a team.

Four months later and the season over, the Plymouth FC - Green team can hold their heads extremely high after not only taking 4th place in the competitive U10 X-League South division, but also winning the Murray Max Cup.

However, more importantly than the results was the way that Plymouth FC - Green played the game.

X League U10 South - Final Standings

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heber Valley Storm 0-9 Plymouth FC - Green

Plymouth FC - Green capped off a fantastic season with a convincing victory over a spirited Heber Valley team.

On a beautiful Fall morning in Heber, Plymouth FC were able to score an early goal and never looked back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Celtic Storm - Green 2-1 Plymouth FC - Green

Plymouth FC will come away from the game believing that a draw would have been a fair result after putting in a fantastic performance against a very good Celtic team.

After falling behind to an early goal, Plymouth took the game to Celtic and thoroughly deserved to go in at the interval on level terms after putting on a passing clinic.

Celtic took control of the game during the early stages of the second half, and made that advantage pay with their second goal of the game. However, back came Plymouth in the final 10 minutes and were unfortunate to not get the equalizing goal that they deserved

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plymouth FC - Green 2-1 Celtic Storm - White

Plymouth FC controlled large portions of the game, but were never able to put the game out of reach against a Celtic team that defended well.

Plymouth FC took control of the game from the opening whistle, with some crisp passing and quality possession, but were only able to take the single goal advantage into the break.

The second half played out similar to the first with Plymouth controlling the opening exchanges, and deservedly extended their lead shortly after the interval. Celtic did come back into the game towards the end of the game, and were able to reduce the deficit to one after a well taken penalty.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plymouth FC - Green 4-0 UC Rage

Plymouth FC put in a workman like performance against a determined UC Rage team, and were able to come away with a deserved 4-0 victory.

Although Plymouth FC controlled possession throughout the game, they were unable to take advantage of that possession and will undoubtedly come away feeling that they should have made more of the chances they created.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hobble Creek Storm 2-0 Plymouth FC - Green

Plymouth FC put in a fantastic display against a strong Hobble Creek team, but unfortunately came up on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline.

Plymouth FC took the game to the undefeated Hobble Creek in the first half, and although Plymouth FC had a great deal of possession, and passed the ball well in the middle of the park, were unable to create any real chances in the final third. The teams went into the break level at 0-0.

The second half saw Hobble Creek gain more control of the game as Plymouth FC visibly tired, and were able to take advantage of their possession with two second half strikes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal Strikers - AP 1-2 Plymouth FC - Green

Plymouth FC and Arsenal Strikers once again played out a hard fought encounter that ultimately resulted in a 2-1 victory for Plymouth FC.

Plymouth FC started the game on fire and although they took a 1-0 lead into half time, it should have been more.

Arsenal returned the favor in the second half and controlled the majority of possession. That possession paid off midway through the second half when they scored off a corner that was never dealt with by the Plymouth FC defense.

However, with no more than five minutes remaining in the game, Plymouth FC were able to snatch all three points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plymouth FC - Green 1-4 Ikaika Warriors

Ikaika Warriors thoroughly deserved their 4-1 victory over Plymouth FC. Warriors took the game to Plymouth FC from the opening whistle, and did not relent.

Congratulations to Rocco and the Warriors, and we wish them the best for the remainder of the season

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal Strikers - SH 0-4 Plymouth FC - Green

Plymouth FC - Green put in a far from impressive performance, but were still able to come away with a 4 - 0 victory over a relentless Arsenal Strikers team.

Although Plymouth FC controlled for large portions of the match, they will undoubtedly feel disappointed that they were able to convert only a handful of the chances they created.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plymouth FC - Green 4-2 Utah Flight

Plymouth FC took all three points following a deserved 4-2 victory over a strong Utah Flight team.

After controlling the opening exchanges, Plymouth FC took the lead midway through the first half, only to see Utah Flight equalize shortly thereafter.

The second half saw Plymouth FC take the lead once again, but back came Utah Flight to level the scores at 2-2. Plymouth FC were finally able to take control of the game in the final 10 minutes and deservedly put the game out of reach with two additional goals.

2011 MAX CUP:
2011 Max Cup: Plymouth FC - Green 1 (5) - 1 (4) Arsenal Strikers:

Plymouth FC were crowned champions of the U10 2011 Max Cup after a sudden death penalty shootout victory over a strong Arsenal team.

As in their previous encounter some five hours earlier, nothing could separate these two teams after the first 50 minutes. Arsenal started the brighter of the two teams in the first half, but neither team were able to break the deadlock, and settled for 0-0 at half time.

Second half was an end to end encounter with Arsenal striking the first blow from a goal off a corner that was never dealt with by the Plymouth defense. However, Plymouth fought back again and scored a deserved equalizer midway through the second half.

With the teams tied after regulation, they played an additional two five minute overtime periods that also failed to separate the two teams.

After being tied through the first five penalties, Plymouth FC were able to claim victory in sudden death on penalty #8.

A great evening and tournament for Plymouth FC - Green, but congratulations must go to Arsenal as well on a fantastic tournament.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2011 Max Cup: Plymouth FC - Green 2 - 2 Arsenal Strikers:

Plymouth FC and Arsenal fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their third game of the 2011 Max Cup.

Plymouth FC will feel that they had the better of the opening 10 minutes of the game and were duly rewarded with a fine strike midway through the first half. As the half progressed Arsenal were able to assert more authority and deservedly got to half time a 1-1.

The second half was an even affair with Arsenal striking first blood midway through the half, only for Plymouth FC to snatch an equalizer in the final couple of minutes.

Both teams would probably feel that a draw was a fair result.

Next Game: Saturday August 13th @ 6.30pm against Arsenal Strikers

2011 Max Cup: Plymouth FC - Green 3 -1 Murray Max Black

Although Plymouth FC dominated possession during the first half, they were only able to take a 2-0 lead into the interval against a resilient Murray Max team.

The second half was more of a scrappy encounter with both teams not only competing against each other, but also against the blistering heat. Although Murray Max was able to score the all important third goal midway through the second half, Plymouth FC held onto their nerve and were able to ensure the victory that they thoroughly deserved by putting away their third goal during the final moments of the game.

Next Game: Friday August 12th @ 5.30pm against TC United

SPRING 2011 SEASON

Arsenal 3 - 1 Plymouth FC (Spring 2011 Tournament Semi Final)

Arsenal deservedly booked their place in the final of the U9 Spring 2011 tournament with a 3 -1 victory over Plymouth FC.

Plymouth FC were left kicking themselves for not taking one of the numerous chances they created in the opening 15 minutes, and paid the ultimate price by allowing two identical goals as a result of not being able to clear their lines from corners.

The second half was a scrappy encounter with chances few and far between. Arsenal were able to score the all important third goal, and despite Plymouth throwing everything at them, were able to hold on for a deserved 3-1 victory and a place in Thursdays final game.

Congratulations to Earl and Arsenal on another fine season.

Plymouth FC 7 - 0 Shooters (Spring 2011 Tournament)

Plymouth FC booked their place in the semi finals of the U9 spring tournament with a scrappy victory over a spirited Shooters team.

Playing not only their second game in two days, but their sixth game in twelve days, a tired Plymouth FC were thankfully able to take an early first half lead, and never looked backed.

Arsenal 1 - 2 Plymouth FC

Plymouth FC were able to sneak a 2 - 1 victory against a good Arsenal team, in a game that one would truly describe as a game of two halves.

The game was not only played on a very small field, which did not allow for much of a flow, but each team had a to deal with a very strong wind.

Plymouth had the wind in their favor in the first half and although they both controlled possession and had a number of good opportunities, were only able to come away with a 2 - 0 lead at the interval.

The second half was all Arsenal, who will come away from this game disappointed at not taking a share of the points that they deserved.

Plymouth FC wrapped up their regular season with a record of played 7, won 5, lost 2 for a total of 15 out of a possible 21 points.

Another great season for Plymouth FC!!

Plymouth FC 3 - 0 Orem Sparks

In a scrappy encounter, Plymouth FC were able to come away with a 3 - 0 victory over a determined Orem Sparks team.

As a result of crazy scheduling, both teams were playing their third game in six days and it showed. Although there was a lot of huff and puff from both teams, there was no real flow to the game. Plymouth FC would argue that they controlled the majority of the game, but were never able to truly finish off an ever improving Orem team.

Hobble Creek Storm 4 - 0 Plymouth FC

Despite another solid performance, Plymouth FC came up short against a strong, undefeated Hobble Creek Storm.

Plymouth FC continued where they left off in their previous game, and gave a fine first half passing performance. The only difference between the two teams being that Hobble Creek were able to take advantage of their opportunities, and went into the break with a 2 - 0 lead.

The second half played out very similar to the first, with both teams creating a number of chances. Once again, the difference between the two teams being that Hobble Creek were able to take advantage of their opportunities, and were able to add two additional second half goals.

Congratulations to Hobble Creek and Jeff not only on their victory this evening, but also to the fact that they have not dropped a single point in either the fall or the spring season.

Plymouth FC 3 -1 Celtic Storm

Plymouth FC put in their best display of the season, during the first half, to earn a deserved 3 - 1 victory against a talented Celtic Storm team.

The first half was a thoroughly entertaining display with both teams looking to play the passing game. Although Plymouth FC were able to control the majority of possession during the first half, they were only able to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half was a more even affair, with both teams competing for every ball and looking for that all important second goal. That goal came early in the second half and extended Plymouth FC's lead to 2-0. A third Plymouth FC goal followed by a super strike from Celtic finished the scoring for the day.

Lightning Bolts 2 - 1 Plymouth FC

Plymouth FC lost a thoroughly entertaining encounter with Lightning Bolts at a wind swept Summer Crest Park.

Although Plymouth FC were on top during the opening and closing periods of the game, a competitive Lightning Bolts team were able to take advantage of their opportunities, and scored either side of half time. Plymouth FC did snatch a late goal, but Lightning Bolts were able to hold on for the three points.

Pink Ninjas 0 - Plymouth FC 6

The first half was a back and forth encounter with both teams showing a great deal of hustle, but no real end result. Although Plymouth FC would argue that they had the majority of the possession, they were unable to take control of the game and had to settle for the single goal.

A more composed Plymouth FC took to the field in the second half and were, for the most part, able to control the proceedings by keeping much better possession of the ball. In contrast to the first half, Plymouth FC were able to take advantage of that possession with an additional five goals.

GOAL!!

Plymouth FC 3 - 0 FC Blaze

Plymouth FC were able to come away with a 3 - 0 victory after a hard fought encounter with FC Blaze.

After taking the lead in the 2nd minute, Plymouth FC had to wait until the end of the 1st half before doubling their advantage. Although Plymouth FC were able to control the majority of the possession in the 1st half, they found it difficult to break down a competitive FC Blaze.

The second half played out very similar to the first half, but with both teams trying to get that all important third goal. That goal came midway through the second half and extended Plymouth FC's lead to 3-0.

FALL 2010 SEASON

Plymouth Football Club finished their inaugural season with a record of six (6) wins, three (3) losses and one (1) draw for a total of nineteen (19) points out of a possible thirty (30). This was enough to take a second place finish in the U9 Girls Fall Competition (AA) League.

Fall 2010 Final Standings

Dating back to our first practice session in the summer, we had no idea of what to expect from this group of seven and eight year old girls! When we established Plymouth Football Club we made the conscious decision that we would teach the girls the true fundamentals of the game (passing/controlling the ball/shooting etc.), hoping and believing that the winning would come over time. From day one we all bought into the fact that we, Plymouth Football Club, would pass the ball. And we would practice, ad nauseam, passing the ball correctly.

We stated all along that the way that we played was of far more importance than the result itself, and that our ultimate objective was to see an improvement in the way that we played the game. Along the way we had a number of great practices and games and a number of .....not great practices and games! However, we truly believe that from the first game back in August through to our final game that we made giant strides.

Although it was not always pretty and did not always come off as planned, anyone who watched us play in the Fall 2010 season would have to admit that we tried to pass the ball and play the game the way the game should be played.
